Area Schools Get Money For Technology Projects

Fifteen area school districts are sharing $75,000 in federal funding for educational technology projects and for training teachers in how to use the technology over the course of the upcoming school year.

The Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction announced the funding Thursday.

The funding is coming through CESA #12 and was awarded because one or more districts in CESA #12 qualified as high need based on income levels and federal census data.

“Technological literacy is required in today’s world and has a direct connection with the skills students need for the workplace or further education,” said State Superintendent Tony Evers in a news release about the funding. Evers added that students having access to technology is critical in today's global economy.

CESA #12 includes the following school districts: Ashland, Bayfield, Butternut, Chequamegon, Drummond Area, Hayward Community, Hurley, Maple, Mellen, Mercer, Northwood, Phillips, Solon Springs, Washburn, and Winter.
