Thomsen And Kilgour At Stagenorth Friday Night
Duluth/Superior area singer-songwriters Sara Thomsen and Rachael Kilgour will perform at Stagenorth, on Fri., June 3 at 7:30 p.m.
Longtime friends and collaborators, the two musicians will perform a mix of their own works and their favorite classics.
Thomsen has released four solo albums and is the founder and artistic-director of the non-audition Echoes of Peace Choir and the vocal trio Three Altos. She has won the Minnesota Folk Festival’s New Folk Songwriting Contest.
Kilgour has built a devoted following over the last five years, captivating audiences with a balance of provocative, topical lyrics, passionate musical delivery, and a charmingly witty stage presence. She sings about love and family, as well as societal shortfalls. Her second solo album, Will You Marry Me?, was released in January. Kilgour was a finalist in the Big Top Chatauqua Songwriting Contest.
Both Thomsen and Kilgour have won top finalist awards in the Public Domain Foundation’s national Music To LIfe Contest, created by Noel Paul Stookey (of “Peter, Paul and Mary”) to recognize songs of sociopolitical concern.
Kilgour credits Thomsen as one of her most influential mentors.
“Sara is the most genuine person I think I’ve ever met, in every single thing she does. It’s a thrill to be performing with her again,” Kilgour says.
Tickets are $10 at Stagenorth the night of the concert.
