An adventure travel company, Adventure Life, is unveiling a series of new Great Lakes cruise options for next year that include viewing the Lake Superior south shore and the Apostle Islands.

Adventure Life is planning to use the Yorktown, a spacious 257-foot luxury American cruise ship, for its Great Lakes cruises in 2012. The 12-day cruises start at $4,995 and depart from Duluth and from Detroit, Mich.

“These Great Lakes cruise tours are rich in history and beauty,” said Adventure Life Operations Director Jonathan Brunger. “Travelers can just sit back, relax and let all of the incredible sites and scenes come to them; it’s just beautiful travel and gorgeous scenery.”

Highlights of Adventure Life’s planned tours include: the Bruce Peninsula; Georgian Bay Islands National Park; Manitoulin; Mackinac Island; Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore; and the Apostle Islands.

“The Yorktown is perfect for a relaxed and welcoming exploration of these amazing American waterways,” said Brunger. “The ship boasts a spacious lounge for social gatherings and the chef emphasizes American regional culinary traditions and specialties.”

Departure dates for the 2012 Great Lakes cruise options begin in June and they will finish out the season in September.
