The Northwest Regional Broadband Planning Team is holding an open house on Mon., Oct. 3, to help the public learn about its plans and how people can get involved in northern Wisconsin broadband efforts.

The Northwest Regional Broadband Planning Team is composed of members from all facets of the Northwest Wisconsin community. According to Northwest Regional Planning, the team recognizes the critical importance of broadband to education, economic development and quality of life in the north. The team has spent months looking at the broadband issue and at options for expanding broadband access.

As a first step, the team plans to showcase the value of the wireless services being deployed in remote areas by demonstrating the benefits broadband can have on community health. The team will explain their plan and vision at an open house on Oct. 3, at the Flat Creek Inn and Suites in Hayward. The open house will include an explanation and overview, including information stations which can provide additional details.

You should attend if you:

  • Are interested in health care in the northwoods community.
  • Are an EMT or first responder working in the underserved regions.
  • Are anyone interested in the effort to expand broadband coverage.

The open house will be from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Mon., Oct. 3, at Flat Creek Inn and Suites, 10290 N. Highway 27S, in Hayward. The information stations at the open house will be available the entire time. Team members will present a brief overview at 4:30 p.m., 5:30 p.m. and at 6:30 p.m.
