WhistleStop Pulls In More Than 2,600 Runners
Ashland's 14th WhistleStop Marathon race took place on Saturday. More than 2,600 runners took part in either the full marathon, half marathon, or the 5K or 10K Cruising the Corridor races.
Local racers made a showing in the top 10 participants in each marathon race. Luke Beirl and John Beirl of Ashland came in third and eighth, respectively, in the men's division of the full marathon. Jenifer Martinsen of Ashland finished tenth in the full marathon's women's division. Ben Cogger of Washburn won the half marathon, while Maria Langholz of Ashland took fourth in the women's half marathon division.
