New Bank Branch Possible In Ashland
Ashland could see a new bank branch come into town.
Chippewa Valley Bank is applying for permission from the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation to set up a new domestic branch bank in Ashland. If approved, the branch would be located at U.S. Highway 2 and 16th Avenue.
Comments are being taken by the FDIC regarding the application. Anyone who would like to comment on the proposal may write to the Regional Director of the Division of Supervision, 300 S. Riverside Plaza Suite 1700, Chicago, IL 60606. All comments must be received by Dec. 15.
Chippewa Valley Bank was chartered in 1917 in Winter, Wis. The bank survived the Great Depression and bought out the failed Radisson Bank in 1936. The bank has assets approaching $230 million. Offices are located in Bruce, Hayward, Weyerhaeuser, Lake Nebagamon, Lac du Flambeau, Bayfield, Iron River, and Washburn.
