'Rally To Save JC Penney's' This Saturday
A rally will take place on Saturday in downtown Ashland in an effort to keep J.C. Penney's in Ashland.
The business confirmed earlier this month reports that the store in Ashland would close.
According to the Ashland Area Chamber of Commerce, the rally for the Penney's store will take place on Sat., Dec. 3 at 2 p.m. in front of the store in Ashland.
"Your support can make a difference!!!" the chamber posted on its Facebook page. "To voice your support, call 972-431-4834 or email the Retail Administrator at tmlyons@jcpenney.com."
The chamber encourages participants to bring signs of support, family, and friends, to the rally.
"This jcpenney store is one of the last small stores of its kind in the nation and they are really steering toward the 'Mall' environment, so the Chamber, along with the City, and the Ashland Area Development Corporation are selling the unique, eclectic, hometown feel, along with the need to have this presence, as there is no other jcpenney aside from Duluth, Rhinelander and Marquette," reads the chamber's message on Facebook.
