Freshly Squeezed: Help Us State Senate ... You're Our Only Hope

With the state Assembly's passage of the mining bill, AB426, it's now up to the state Senate to remove some of the bill's worst provisions before sending it to Gov. Scott Walker to sign. Rep. Janet Bewley (D-Ashland) attempted to remove a provision that would send 40 percent of tax proceeds from mining operations to the state's coffers, but her amendment was tabled. Can the Senate stop the Assembly's madness?
