Mining Forum In Ashland

The Penokee Hills Education Project in cooperation with the Sigurd Olson Environmental Institute of Northland College announces a public forum focused on mining regulations and legislation.
The forum will be held today from noon to 5 p.m. on the Northland College campus in the Alvord Theatre. The forum will include presentations from professionals with varying experiences and perspectives on mining regulation and legislation, as well as opportunities for audience questions. The proposed Penokee Hills and Gogebic Range mine, with the attendant Assembly bill #426, have raised new concerns and exposed sharply divided opinions on these important community issues. Our hope is that this forum will deepen our understanding of the issues and lead to an informed civic response.
