The Chequamegon ATV Club has been busy! Their cleanup efforts each spring always turn up some interesting items, according to Mary Motiff of Bayfield County.

Garbage was collected by the Chequamegon ATV Club over a two-day period in a small area of the Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest. Given all they collected, imagine all the other garbage that needs picking up!

This year they encountered a tire, a mattress, a car bumper, a vacuum cleaner, a box fan and 50 pounds of aluminum along with countless plastic bottles and various other garbage.

Tom Koleski, president of the Chequamegon ATV Club has a message for his fellow ATV riders and whoever else may be littering: “If you can pack it in, you can pack it out.”

As far as bigger items go, the next opportunity to get rid of large appliances at no charge is on Sat., July 16 at the Washburn County Highway Garage from 10 a.m. to noon; or at the Iron River County Highway Garage, from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. the same day.  Bayfield County gives a big “thank you!” to the club members for their efforts.
